places
My time overseas is coming to an end. My experience here has been something that I don’t think I even want to try to put into words-- I’m not sure if I’m capable to capture it in it’s entirety through a measly paragraph.
So, I’ll leave it at that. :)

summer instagram
I know summer isn't over just yet--and I'm definitely not wishing it away--but I wanted to post a collage of a few of my summer instagram pics thus far. My summer in NYC has been nothing but amazing. Below you'll find a few cab rides, some favorite warm-weather clothing items, a day on the job, summer food (and beverages;) ), and a few shots from a trip back to my roots (Thidwick included..).

cargo pants
I bought a pair of cargo pants (not the skinny-fashionable kind, but the baggy-i-just-returned-from-'nam kind) and I just can't get enough of them. They're super comfy and I have plenty of pockets to store my belongings, no need for a purse (ha..ha). But in actuality, they really are great. They inspired me to sketch my own cargo-ish pants, so I though I'd share. There's a sense of androgyny to the croquis pairing a clean, soft, tailored top with the rugged grungy pant (or maybe it's the fact that they're bald?). Regardless, it's a combo that makes me happy. Androgyny in fashion is a trend that I hope continues to develop and last.

Just a little wrist bliss and neon nails on a sunny day. Made the multi-color chain bracelet and cross bracelet.

travels: nyc
jeweled sunnies
Spotted some bejeweled glasses in the April 2012 issue of Nylon Magazine (model images from magazine)…pretty much the shit. Such a great DIY project, and lord knows how many beads and baubles I have laying around. So…I MADE MY OWN (not posted, will show later). Bought an awesome pair of circle sunglasses and collected all sorts of glittery doodads, and started gluin’ away. I used E6000 paste, which any ex-dancer (I’m an ex-dancer) knows is the best adhesive for rhinestones, beads, jewels, buttons, trim...(you get it). It was a great rainy day project and I can’t wait to wear them and get snarls and stares on the street (that’s when you know you’re dressing right).

pumped up kicks
It's evident that the fashion world can't get enough of the Isabel Marant Perkins Sneaker. I think they've debuted on about every fashion blog/site I read. Because these high-heeled kicks aren't the most budget-friendly, I wanted to point out two brands that could potentially substitute for this fashionable sneaker (even though nothing beats the original..). The top six tennies below are by Ash, and the bottom five silk screen high tops are by Be & D. The Be & D ones are kind of hilarious to me. In a way the remind me of the great Elsa Schiaparelli's "Bow Knot" sweater, who was the first to make 3D images 2D on her clothing (also take a look at her "Tear" Dress).
ballet flat heels
I am not one to gravitate towards low heels...ever. In fact, my first impression of these ballet flat heels was, well, really not much of anything. My initial vibe was that they're too old-lady looking, however, I no longer look at them in that light. I've spotted them around NYC on young, trendy women and I've grown an appreciation towards them. I think they can add a certain chic element to a casual outfit.
